TRADITIONAL BOTANICALS
Muira Puama and Catuaba: The Traditional Botanicals Behind the Blend
Two of the nine botanicals in Stallion Power® — Muira Puama and Catuaba bark — come with centuries of traditional use behind them, but comparatively little modern clinical research. We think that distinction deserves its own honest explanation.
Muira Puama: "Potency Wood"
Muira Puama (Ptychopetalum olacoides) is a shrub native to the Brazilian Amazon, historically nicknamed "potency wood" for its long-standing use in traditional Brazilian herbal medicine to support male vitality, drive, and general nervous system tone. It's also been used traditionally for joint discomfort and general fatigue, suggesting a broader tonic role rather than one narrow effect.
Catuaba: A Confidence Botanical
Catuaba refers to bark from several related South American tree species, used traditionally — often alongside Muira Puama — to support mood, confidence, and male wellness. Brazilian folk medicine has documented its use for generations, frequently as part of tonic blends rather than as a standalone remedy.
What the Modern Research Actually Shows
Here's the part we won't dress up: large, controlled, modern human clinical trials on either Muira Puama or Catuaba are scarce. What exists tends to be older, smaller studies, animal research, or ethnobotanical review literature documenting traditional use rather than rigorously testing it against placebo in the way L-Arginine or Ashwagandha have been studied. If you're looking for the same caliber of evidence we can point to for those two ingredients, it doesn't exist yet for these.
So Why Include Them?
Two reasons, and we think both are legitimate even without a modern clinical trial to lean on. First, both botanicals have long, consistent traditional-use histories with generally favorable safety profiles — this isn't an obscure, untested addition. Second, a multi-ingredient formula like Stallion Power® is built to cover several angles at once; Muira Puama and Catuaba round out the "drive and confidence" category alongside Maca and Tribulus, rather than being the primary evidence-based actives carrying the formula.
What We'd Tell You Directly
If someone is deciding whether to try Stallion Power® based specifically on Muira Puama or Catuaba research, we'd tell them plainly: don't expect to find a large randomized trial backing either one individually. Their inclusion reflects traditional use and a reasonable safety record, not a settled modern clinical case — and we'd rather you know that upfront than discover it after buying.
The Bottom Line
Muira Puama and Catuaba are traditional botanicals with generations of documented use, included in this formula for that history and their safety profile. They're not where we'd point you if you're looking for the strongest clinical evidence in this blend — that's L-Arginine and Ashwagandha — but they're a reasonable, low-risk traditional addition to a broader formula.
